So I woke up happy today. Not only did I sleep in until noon, but the Sox won last night (against the Yankees, of course), and today they play again. This time an Afternoon game, which for me means a noon game since I'm in the derranged PDT.
Only one problem... Fox brodacasting (hooray Rupert Murdoch) strikes again. They decide to black out the biggest rivalry in the history of ALL sports games ever played, to show the Cubs vs Cardinals game. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? Me and about 70 other Sox fans were standing in the bar absolutely dumbfounded. Between the two of us, one other guy and I called 239428 bars in the area to see who had the MLB package. You guessed it - NOT A SINGLE ONE.
So I ended up at a local watering hole / deli... met a cute waitress displaced from the northeast. I figure that kind of makes up for the sox game, and should provide some entertainment if I'm here for a while. The locals were cool, we ranted on about how steroids are ruining pro sports and demanded that the manager throw out the Barry Bonds booblehead he had on display (among others). All in all, I'd call today a success.
