Travel Turkey

So this was my first Thanksgiving away from most of my family... but at least I got to eat with my 2nd favorite cousin! Never having had to worry about cooking birds before, the three of us in the kitchen staring at a frozen bird that clearly said on it "never frozen" became quite the Rubik's cube. What does an engineer do when something is frozen and you want it to be not frozen? Put something warm on it! Yea - we filled the turkey with hot water... I'm told this probably wasn't the best idea. After six or seven calls back home, we finally got the neck out and the turkey in the oven. It wasn't until after the turkey was well done we realized someone (unnamed) forgot to remove the giblet sack. Fantastic. Apparently frozen turkeys have holes on BOTH ends (I was not the head chef in this whole ordeal - but I'm not saying I'd have done any better either). All in all a very good time - those folks in Houston sure know how to have a feast.
